Production and transport of vorticity in two-dimensional Rayleigh–Bénard convection cell

We present a numerical study of vorticity production and transport in the two-dimensional Rayleigh–Bénard (RB) convection. Direct simulations are carried out Rayleigh number (Ra) range 105≤Ra≤106, Prandtl (Pr) 0.71, aspect ratio (Γ) convection cell 0.75≤Γ≤6. found that flow structure temperature distribution vary with Γ greatly due to multiple vortices interaction. Further investigation on reveals that, RB convection, addition wall shear stress, buoyancy produces significant bulk region. The produced is transported via advection diffusion. An interesting finding main corner can be visualized contour buoyancy-produced vorticity. Although vigorous definition vortex still lacking community, our efficient visualization approach may shed light further research toward identification. also spatial flux along positively correlated Nusselt (Nu), suggesting amount enters directly related thermal energy flow.
